An Awesome And Economical Option - Lawn Edger Review

by Zoey Rivera

I purchased this edger back in early spring, but due to a broken wrist, and injured shoulder, I did not use this machine until last Saturday. The machine is very easy to operate, heavy enough to hold it on track, but not so heavy I couldn't handle it. What a pleasure it was! There was virtually no setup required and within minutes I was walking along cutting a perfect groove along my sidewalk, driveway, and even the curb. The only problem I did encounter was when I got into the thicker growth (2-3") and the Edge Hog would clog. But it was really my fault.

I was using my gas powered string trimmer as on edger until we purchased this last week. As I was growing up, my dad lived by gas powered equipment, so I was planning to buy a gas powered edger at some point in time, but I didn't want to fork over the $200 minimum needed. This edger works fine in my small urban yard. I do have to go over some spots a 2nd time to cut our wire-y southern grass but I like the quiet operation and simplicity of plug it in and cut. It is lightweight and easy to handle. There is also a place to tuck the cord in which keeps it out of my way.

I have been using it for about a year now and it still does a great job. A few notes - Only use it when it is bone dry outside.

The brushings are held in with plastics. Run the unit hard for a bit on a summer day and the motor melts.

This product was great. We moved into our house a little over a year ago and I knew we were going to need an edger at one point in time.

Get over that small learning curve and you are home free with an edger that works, is not noisy or troublesome, and lets you keep the wallet a little fatter. My wife and I are very happy that we bought this edger and we both recommend it. He says it is much nicer and easier to use than his old gas-powered edger. There you have it.

This was our second purchase of this edger. Our first edger lasted over 8 years and was used and abused until it finally gave up.

Of course there is the cord to deal with but for the occasional job it is not a problem. I highly recommend the product. This product is excellent. Plenty of power, it does the job well. I used to use a multi-attachment gas powered edger (with swap out stems for the blower and weed-whacker). The always "ON" power in the B&D edger is far superior to what the gas powered one could do.
