Save Your Money - Mtd Lawn Edger Review
Well, needless to say, that was the end of the Edge Hog. It's now in the trash, and I will never buy another B&D product as long as I live. In response to this some products can be set to cut a very wide (trench) line. One tool can't do both, so one neighbor has to trench his sidewalks and then backfill them with dirt in order to get a nice sharp edge.
Easy to assemble right out of the box. Powerful motor, cuts through dirt and thick grass.
I'm not the type of person to typically leave reviews. But wanted to leave one for this. Just point and start! This edger probably works find for light work in sandy soils. I would not buy again. Looks like was designed for use for a season or two tops.
I cut slots in the lawn within 1/2 inch of my radial wires (#14 insulated wires) and the Edge Hog didn't even move them. Very accurate cutting and easy to see where you are going with it. This Black and Decker edger does not seem to show the weaknesses of the Weed Eater. Plus, being electric, it is much quieter and cleaner to operate. Once the edge-line is established, this machine BREEZES through to clean up 'already-edged' areas. It's definitely a work horse for unmaintained areas.
My neighbor came over and used his yard blower to clean up some grass I'd left on the sidewalk using my string trimmer, to help retain the look. That's how neat the finish is on the lawn.
When I was able to start it, it could trim around beds and even sort of edge walks. When I couldn't start it anymore, I bought the Edge Hog a couple of years ago. I bought an extra blade expecting to tear up at least one blade trying to get the hang of it. Not necessary, I can't imagine damaging the thick metal blade, that doesn't need sharpening. This is an edger that will work great for maybe a season. Pay extra and buy a better edger from any other company.
My only problem is that I was unable to see the guide wheel from my vantage point in the rear of the edger. I compensated by using the guide imprinted on the front housing, above the hidden wheel.
It is easy to use and did a fantastic job with little effort on my part. My significant other uses this Black and Decker Electric Lawn Edge Hog and he is extremely happy with it!
